Prof. Stefan Grimme, active part of our scientific advisory board, was awarded the van der Waals prize 2025 for senior scientists by the International Advisory Board (IAB) of the International Conferences on Noncovalent Interactions (ICNIs). This prize honors his outstanding scientific contributions in the field of quantum chemical descriptions of non-covalent interactions (NCIs) with a focus on London dispersion interactions. His research has raised the perception of London dispersion in chemistry to a completely new level. In particular, his effective dispersion corrections, the D3 and D4 models, have enabled the routine description of these interactions with high accuracy at negligible additional computational cost even for very large chemical systems.

We congratulate Stefan Grimme, who more than deserves this award.
